Our Roots

1977

Arvida plants and opens the ​Broken Sound Golf Club (The Old ​Course), inspired by the peaceful ​setting and that only the slice of ​the golf club hitting the ball would ​break the peace and quiet, giving ​the community its name of ​"Broken Sound"

2004

The Old Course, originally ​designed by Joe Lee in 1978, was ​renovated by Gene Bates to ​improve playability and aesthetics.
